The Complete Truth About De-Evolution

Dir. Chuck Statler | 1993 | 70 min

NEW LOWER PRICE! The complete and classic Devo video retrospective.

Now the complete truth can be told. Devo, the seminal new wave audio-visual concept band, made a career out of setting to music video their dada-gone-camp theory of de-evolution and its riotous rebuke of corporate culture. The Complete Truth About De-Evolution is a comprehensive collection of Devo's video output, an essential tour of the pre-to-post-punk scene featuring 20 music videos from 1976 to 1990, including groundbreaking pre-MTV clips that defined the form with twisted genius. (Note to completists: this is the 2014 version of The Complete Truth issued on DVD by MVD Entertainment.)

Set list: Devo Corporate Anthem • Secret Agent Man • Jocko Homo • (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction • Come Back Jonee • The Day My Baby Gave Me a Surprize • Worried Man • Whip It • Girl U Want • Freedom of Choice • Through Being Cool • Love Without Anger • Beautiful World • Time Out for Fun • Peek-A-Boo • That's Good • Theme From Dr. Detroit • Disco Dancer • Post-Post Modern Man • Post-Post Modern Man (Rocky Schenck Remix)

MFW Nugget

This collection is missing one video from the '76-'90 era: Devo's cover of Jimi Hendrix' "Are U Experienced," which appeared on the orignial 1993 Laserdisc version of The Complete Truth About De-Evolution but was deleted from DVD reissues at the insistence of the Hendrix estate. You can watch it here.
